South Africa's matric pass rate hovers around 80%, but the quality of passes — and the number of students qualifying for university — remains a concern. Students in under-resourced schools lack access to personalised tutoring, practice exams, and real-time feedback on their understanding.

The client, an EdTech startup, wanted to build an AI-powered study platform that could adapt to each student's learning pace, identify knowledge gaps, and provide targeted practice — making quality exam prep accessible to all SA students, not just those who can afford private tutors.

Our Solution

We built an intelligent study platform that uses AI to personalise the learning experience for each student.

• Adaptive Learning Engine: AI analyses each student's responses to adjust difficulty and focus areas in real time
• Knowledge Gap Detection: Identifies specific concepts a student struggles with and provides targeted remediation
• Smart Practice Tests: Generates personalised practice exams that mirror real NSC paper structure and timing

Results

Educational Impact

The platform has been particularly impactful for students in rural and under-resourced schools who previously had no access to personalised tutoring. The AI adapts to different learning styles — visual, auditory, and kinesthetic — ensuring each student learns in the way that works best for them.
